Normally Ohio in December is quite cloudy. But this Christmas day there was a true miracle - it was clear in Ohio for the partial solar eclipse!
Eclipse viewing equipment included a 3.5" Questar with a piece of paper mounted about a foot from the back. A 32mm eyepiece was inserted into the rear attachment and focused on the paper to produce a view of the eclipse from both the front and back. We were due for Christmas dinner at noon and there were to be many children of all ages there so I wanted to use a safe method of displaying eclipse. The projection method works the best. Because it was clear it was also very cold outside, so we observed a lot of the eclipse inside through the windows.
