The imager input is used to compute the field of view and maximum exposure you can take without the need of a tracking mount. When film is selected the imager array size is ignored, pixel density not calculated, and an MTF sampling of 60 line pairs per millimeter is used instead.

Atmospheric extinction is only applicable when the solar eclipse is low on the horizon (under 15 degrees).
The calculation used is based on a simplified model that does not account for all the variables that may exist. The output is merely a suggested starting point.
