Corona structure in HDR This image is a high dynamic range (HDR) composite of 8 shots all with different exposures taken sequentially over 16 seconds, ranging from 1/250 second at ISO 100 to 1/15 second at ISO 6400. The process brings out the details in the shadows while preserving the highlights and approximates what the eye sees. The curving rays rising from the poles are actually plasma arcs following the sun's magnetic field lines. Pretty cool. Camera: Canon EOS 5D MkII; 2X teleconverter; Telescope: 65mm aperture, 420mm focal length; equatorial tracking mount; exposures controlled by Eclipse Orchestrator.
