We had planned to observe this eclipse near Williamsburg however the night before it was apparent that the weather would not cooperate. Awakening early on eclipse we drove to Greensboro North Carolina joining a group of eclipse chasers at the local airport. We were able to see the entire eclipse under clear sky as the front of weather was to the north of us. This was a case where we had to chase the eclipse.
The film jammed in my camera and I was unaware of this fact until after it was developed. Despite that the view through the Questar during maximum eclipse was pretty amazing. Moving the view so that the brighter part of the Sun was out of the field of view I was able to see corona detail. Note: This was a dangerous, and in retrospect stupid, thing to do. I strongly recommend against it. One bad bump of the tripod and I could have lost an eye.
